Did you know that all health insurance plans are required to cover screening mammograms without charging you a copayment or coinsurance? It’s true even if you haven’t met your yearly deductible. The only requirement is that the services need to be delivered by a provider, such as a physician, clinic or hospital, in your network.

Screening mammograms at no cost? That's important, and here's why.

After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. In fact, each year in the United States, more than 200,000 women get breast cancer and more than 40,000 women die from it. Getting mammograms regularly can lower the risk of dying from breast cancer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a great time to schedule your mammogram if it’s time for one. It’s a very important step toward protecting your good health. And remember, when your mammogram is performed by a provider in your network, there is no cost to you.
