Is the shingles vaccine covered if I get it in my doctor's office?
The shingles vaccine (Zostavax and Shingrix) is an eligible expense for members 50 years of age or older. You will want to verify your coverage to find out the specific coverage your employer group allows for. (I will send you a message for yours) The vaccine will be covered in accordance with the your immunization benefit under the medical portion of the plan.
To locate a Zostavax/Shingrix provider in your area determine if any of the following Convenient Care Clinics are locate in your area and are participating with your network.
The Little Clinic (located inside select Kroger grocery stores) Healthcare Clinic (located inside Walgreens pharmacies) RediClinic (located inside HEB grocery stores)
These clinics are nationally contracted providers that supply the vaccine. In most cases there should be one of these providers in your area. If none of the providers listed above is located in your area, you may visit http://www.zostavax.com/pdc/zostavax/serchLocation.do# enter your ZIP code and proceed based on the Web site’s search instructions. Remember to confirm that the provider is participating with your Humana plan once a provider is located.
Note: In some cases, members may have been given direction from their provider to pick the drug up from a pharmacy and bring it back to the provider's office for injection. In these instances, the claim for the drug may deny, or pay at the nonparticipating benefit level.
