I was suggested to use acupuncture to treat my lower back, does my insurance covers the visits to acupuncture?
Good morning. According to your specific benefit plan, acupuncture services are listed as a limitation and exclusion, unless:
The treatment is medically necessary, appropriate and is provided within the scope of theacupuncturist's license; and You are directed to the acupuncturist for treatment by a licensed physician.
If eligible, these would be payable at a 100% coinsurance level following your $5000 deductible being met.
This applies to those received through an in network provider.
