If I pay for a provider's services (out-of pocket) can I then forward proof of payment to Humana for credit towards my deductible? Or, does that provider need to bill Humana (out-of-network) and I pay for it to count towards my deductible?
Great question, as there are times where this may happen.
One of two things would occur. The provider submits the claim to Humana and it will automatically apply towards your out of network benefits, including your deductible accumulations. You wouldn't have do do anything further in this instance.
The other, as out of network providers are not contracted to submit the claim, you would need to do so in order for it to be applied towards the accumulations.
